How to pack Smart Reef units correctly for transport/shipping
INFO: In this article, you will learn how to properly prepare your Smart Wave device for shipping so that it is safe for the device.
A:) SMART WAVE
STEP A-1:
Remove the rotor cover by turning it counterclockwise and dismantle the rotor.
STEP A-2:
Thoroughly dry the wet Smart Wave components.
ATTENTION:
Sending an undried device may permanently damage it, which is not covered by the warranty!
STEP A-3:
Pack the device in its original packaging or protect the components individually.
IMPORTANT:
If you do not have the original packaging, fill the carton with foam, cardboard or filler so that the unit cannot be damaged in transit.
B:) THERMO CONTROL
STEP B-1:
Secure the equipment to prevent bending/breaking of components and to prevent cutting or severing of cables.
IMPORTANT:
If you do not have the original packaging, fill the carton with foam, cardboard or filler so that the unit cannot be damaged in transit.
C:) LEVEL KEEPER
STEP C-1:
After removing the device from the aquarium, dry the liquid level sensors.
STEP C-2:
Secure the equipment to prevent bending/breaking of components and to prevent cutting or severing of cables.
IMPORTANT:
If you do not have the original packaging, fill the carton with foam, cardboard or filler so that the unit cannot be damaged in transit.
D:) SMART TESTER
ATTENTION:
When touching the reagent cartridges, the measuring cuvette and other components in contact with the reagents, maintain personal protective equipment according to the label on the cartridge packaging or at a minimum in the form of nitrile gloves and eye protection.
STEP D-1:
Slowly and gently eject all the cartridges in the device one by one.
PLEASE NOTE!:
Sending the device with reagents in the shipment may permanently damage the device, which is not covered by the warranty.
PLEASE NOTE!:
Only include Reagents in your shipment if specifically requested by your application supervisor. By default, they should not be sent.
STEP D-2:
Dry the measuring cuvette carefully and sensitively and remove the magnetic stirrer so that it does not bruise the beaker during transport.
STEP D-3:
Pack the unit in the original box and use the original sponge/filler to eliminate transport damage.
IMPORTANT:
If you do not have the original packaging, fill the carton with foam, cardboard or filler so that the unit cannot be damaged in transit.
E:) SMART FEEDER
ATTENTION:
Incorrectly securing the device during transport may void the device's warranty and may lead to a refusal of service!
STEP E-1:
If any components are splashed with water after removal from the aquarium, be sure to dry them before packing.
STEP E-2:
Place the device in its original packaging with all accessories or protect the device with a soft material.
STEP E-3:
Prepare a cardboard box and fill it with inserts to dampen shocks.
STEP E-4:
Place the protected device in a cardboard box, secure it with a shock-absorbing medium and carefully seal the parcel with tape.
PLEASE NOTE!:
The equipment must not be packed in such a way that it can move inside the packaging of the consignment.
F:) pH METER
ATTENTION:
Incorrectly securing the device during transport may void the device's warranty and may lead to a refusal of service!
STEP F-1:
Secure the wet probe of the device with the cap in which the item was originally packed.
If you do not have the original cap, wrap the damp probe in a plastic bag and protect it from drying out.
PLEASE NOTE!:
Do not pour water into the bag, this may result in flooding of the unit in transit and damage to the unit!
STEP F-2:
Place the device in the original box and protect it with a soft material. If you do not have the original packaging.
PLEASE NOTE!:
The equipment must not be packed in such a way that it can move inside the packaging of the consignment.
G:) POWER SWITCHER
ATTENTION:
Incorrectly securing the device during transport may void the device's warranty and may lead to a refusal of service!
STEP G-1:

H:) SMART ROLLER
STEP H-1:
If you are sending the unit for repair at a service centre, you can send the motor itself:
STEP H-2:
Secure the motor so that it is not damaged during transport. Protruding plastic parts are particularly susceptible.
STEP H-3:
Then place the packed device in the cardboard box in which you will send the device.
STEP H-4:
Then place the packed device in the cardboard box in which you will send the device.
PLEASE NOTE!:
Place the unit and all accessories in the original carton together with the protective foams.
IMPORTANT:
If you do not have the original packaging, fill the carton with foam, cardboard or filler so that the unit cannot be damaged in transit.
I:) KH KEEPER / KH KEEPER PLUS
ATTENTION:
Incorrectly securing the device during transport may void the device's warranty and may lead to a refusal of service!
STEP I-1:
First remove the reagent and aquarium hoses and set them aside so that they do not draw any fluid.
STEP I-2:
Empty the reagent A pump hose.
Go to your device in the Smart Reef app and enter the ‘CALIBRATE’ option.
STEP I-3:
Select ‘PUMP WITH REAGENT [A]’ from the list.
STEP I-4:
Select ‘FILL circuit’. This option will need to be run several times until there is no fluid in the pump hose.
(IMPORTANT: Remember to remove the hose from the fluid container. )
PLEASE NOTE!:
Repeat the same steps for ‘PUMP FROM THE ACQUARIUM [B] !
STEP I-5:
After removing the residual liquid from the reagent and aquarium hoses, empty the measuring vessel and waste hose.
STEP I-6:
To do this, select the ‘DISPLAY’ option in the ‘CALIBATE’ menu.
STEP I-7:
Wipe off any liquid residue on the remaining components with paper so that the unit is completely dry.
(IMPORTANT: After these steps, there should be no liquid in the hoses or in the vessel.)
STEP I-8:
Remove the mixing tablet from the vessel Pack it in a separate bag.
STEP I-9:
Place the supplied original cover over the probe.
STEP I-10:
If you do not have the original cover, wet the probe in seawater and wrap it in a plastic bag, securing it with a rubber band so that the probe is not dry.
(IMPORTANT: Do not pour water into the bag! This risks flooding in transit.)
STEP I-11:
Disconnect all hoses and power supply from the unit.
STEP I-12:
The unit is ready to be secured and packaged.
STEP I-13:
Protect the glass vessel with the original foam or paper towels.
STEP I-14:
Once secure, replace the lid with the lozenge inside.
IMPORTANT:
If you have the original packaging from the device then put it in there with all the accessories, and then the original cardboard box with the device into a larger protective cardboard box.
PLEASE NOTE!:
You can also send the device in replacement packaging if you do not have the original one. However, remember to secure the device properly. Use bubble wrap or paper so that the device in the box does not move.
